Mundfish, the developer of Atomic Heart, has launched a publishing initiative called Mundfish Powerhouse, aiming to support aspiring developers, after their game reached 10 million players since its launch in February 2023. The initiative will provide investment, resources, and expertise to smaller teams, focusing on projects with the potential to set new standards for quality and creative risk, according to the studio.
Mundfish Powerhouse will offer support in areas such as game optimization, technology, and gameplay mechanics. Aspiring developers are encouraged to submit their project proposals, including a pitch presentation, a summary of their needs, and a game demo.
“For quite some time, studios and investors have been approaching us seeking support,” said Mundfish CEO Robert Bagratuni. “We've decided to make this direction official. Powerhouse will only partner with projects where we see great potential to make noise. Not just a handful of indie hits, but big and bold games that can set a new standard for quality and creative risk.”
The move follows the commercial success of Atomic Heart, a first-person action RPG that has garnered significant attention for its unique art style and gameplay. Surpassing 10 million players marks a major achievement for Mundfish, transitioning from a game developer to a potential key player in supporting the indie game development scene.
With the launch of Powerhouse, Mundfish positions itself not only as a developer but also as an incubator for new talent. The initiative could reshape the landscape of game development by fostering innovation and enabling smaller studios to realize ambitious projects.
