Pep Guardiola calls for FA to reconsider Wembley's location for FA Cup semi-finals after Manchester City's struggles with fan attendance and learning from a recent defeat against Nottingham Forest.
Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola, is advocating for the FA to host future FA Cup semi-finals in the north of England to alleviate the burden on fans. This follows Manchester City's failure to sell their full allocation of tickets at Wembley. Guardiola stated, 'We will play for the people who come to Wembley and for the people who would like to come and cannot,' acknowledging the difficulty for some fans to travel.
Guardiola also emphasized the team's preparation for the upcoming FA Cup semi-final, highlighting lessons learned from their recent 1-0 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest. "When we arrive at Wembley it’ll be about preparing as best as possible and remembering the game we played at Forest away," he noted. "We will learn from that, what they can do and try to let the players feel the type of game we’re going to face.” Nottingham Forest, managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, is currently vying for a Champions League spot and seeking their first FA Cup victory since 1959.
Manchester City aims to continue their record-extending streak with their seventh consecutive FA Cup semi-final appearance, hoping to secure a third final under Guardiola, having previously won the competition in 2018/19 and 2022/23. The team closely analyzes their past encounter with Nottingham Forest to strategize for success.
